~~About Caring for Ebonite Mouthpieces~~ The mouthpiece is made of high-quality ebonite. Due to the properties of its components, the silver plating may tarnish for a certain period of time after manufacture. New mouthpieces may retain the properties of the ebonite material, which may cause discoloration if stored in an instrument case with silver-plated instruments, ligatures, or caps. Storing your mouthpiece in a hot, humid environment can also cause discoloration.

To prevent discoloration of the silver plating, we recommend storing your mouthpiece separately from your instrument for a certain period of time, such as in the outer pocket of your instrument case (wrapped in a soft, non-breaking cloth). (Discoloration will be less likely after the seasoning period has passed.)
